J.S. Bach: Missae Breves (BWV 233-236)Anne Harley & Andrea Folan (sopranos), Miranda Loud (alto), Pablo Bustos (tenor), Max van Egmond (bass), Peter Watchorn (organ), Publick Musick - Thomas Folan (director)
Bach’s four short Latin masses (missae breves) are presented here by Publick Musick, one of America’s most exciting young ensembles of singers and “historically aware” instrumentalists. The four short masses (BWV 233-236) are far less well-known than the great B minor Mass, BWV 232, although all five works were similarly arranged from Bach’s church cantatas, originally as settings of just the Kyrie and Gloria portions of the mass. This new release in Musica Omnia’s Bach choral works series features Publick Musick, one of the finest specialist ensembles in the USA, directed by Thomas Folan. Released June-06 / $17.99 http://www.musicaomnia.org/release/bach-missae-breves-bwv-233-236/ |
